Ich habe vergeblich versucht ein Crowfield zu finden dass 237 Meilen oder 382 km nordöstlich der Times Square  liegt.

Ich habe in auch im Apple Book Store Leseproben von Some Buried Caesar und Der Rote Stier heruntergeladen. Dort finde ich die gleichen Angaben für Meilen bzw. km.

Das einzige Crowfield das ich nordöstlich von New York gefunden habe ist Crowfield, North Kingstown, Rhode Island. Die kürzeste Strecke ist lt. Google ist 167 Meilen. Die längste 200 Meilen. 

Vielleicht gab es 1939 auch keine so kurze Verbindung.

Mit dem Versuch irgend etwas 237 Meilen nordöstlich der Time Square zu lokalisieren  ist schwierig.

Eine Anfrage bei The Wolfe Pack - Fans of Nero Wolfe bei Facebook ergab, dass sich Rex Stout den Ort wohl ausgedacht hat.

"Alexander J. WeiI: I'm guessing Stout just wanted to invent a fictional place conveniently far from Manhattan."

Allerdings kommt aus derselben Gruppe der Hinweis, dass die Strecke Times Square -Crowfield, North Kingstown, Rhode Island früher etwas weiter war:
